Hi conferees -

I’m so glad to see your registration for what I trust is going to be the most powerful conference yet of the sixty-eight conferences Father has enabled me to direct. The website is finally finished, but I’ve still got tons of other conference work. Seems every time I cross something off my to-do list, I add several more things. But I’m praising God for all He is doing and will do through this year’s conference.

Appointments – Click on Appointments and Our Appointment Process for need-to-know info. Then go to the editors page for their editorial needs and the agents page for the genres they are interested in representing. In addition, at the top of each of these pages you’ll find Barb Haley’s wonderfully helpful charts. Seek Father’s guidance before clicking here for the form to request your appointments in priority order. As long as you return your completed form to Barb (haleybarb@yahoo.com) by July 15, your appointments will be booked in the order you registered. So you do not need to rush this process. After July 15, appointments will be booked in the order Barb receives your form. July 26 is the deadline for emailing Barb your one sheet and first page if you are meeting with a book editor or agent. If you are meeting with a magazine editor, follow the editor’s length guidelines posted beneath their bio.

Paid critiques – This is a great opportunity to get professional feedback on your manuscript and worth much more than the $40 faculty are charging. Click here for more info. The deadline for emailing submissions once accepted is August 1.

Writing contest - Everyone is a winner this year since by entering you receive your choice of one of these eBooks: Sleeping Near the Ark – Writing with a Fresh Vision or Write His Answer – A Bible Study for Christian Writers. Click here for more info.

Pre-conference opportunities – Click here and add the dates for these zoom meetings to your to-do list. In addition, make time to watch the pre-recorded videos that will help you prepare for your appointments. Be watching your email for webinars we plan to offer before the conference.

Handouts – This page is not ready for you to view yet, but make a note on your to-do list to click here before the conference so you can download handouts for workshops, labs, and continuing sessions you plan to attend.

Build your network of writing friends—your writing family! – The Write His Answer Fellowship meets every Monday evening, 8 pm Eastern, on Zoom. The next Hour of Encouragement will meet Sunday, July 21, 8 pm Eastern, on Zoom. I mail the links usually near the end of the week.

Please help us spread the word about the conference – I’m often reminded of the movie, Field of Dreams, and the ballpark a farmer built in his cornfield. Remember the line, “If you build it, they will come”? Through the years of directing sixty-eight conferences, however, I’ve learned that building a conference isn’t enough. People won’t come if they don’t know about it. So, will you please help us? Click here for a flyer you can print in black and white. I know there are closet writers in every church, so if you can post it on your church bulletin board or request it be included as a bulletin insert, you are likely to find a new writing friend. And, of course, please share it with your writing friends. Also be watching your mail from the USPS for a full-color brochure that is coming soon.

Constant Contact – I keep everyone updated on need-to-know info and any changes through my Constant Contact list. By registering for the conference, you will be automatically added to my list. Be sure to check your email regularly.

Finally, I’d appreciate your prayers for my husband and me. While the two vertebrae Paul broke in his back over 5 months ago have healed, he’s still in a lot of pain when he stands or walks. He is having an epidural steroid injection July 17. July 18 I’m scheduled for a MRI of my back. I’ve been trying to get it scheduled sooner. It’s been over two years since I’ve had a MRI, and our pain mgmt doctor needs a current MRI to see if a new procedure will help the pain I’m experiencing from bulging discs in my back. June 26 he did a diagnostic geniculate block of my right knee. Chronic pain is wearing us both down. Father, we need Your healing hand.

Please let me know if you have any prayer needs and if you have any questions regarding the conference. You can call me at 267-436-2503 or email me at mbagnull@aol.com. Questions regarding appointments should be directed to Barb at haleybarb@yahoo.com.

Father, thank You for the freedom we have to “write Your answer” and help us not to take it for granted. Show us how to make the most of the opportunities You give us. Use this year’s conference to draw us all closer to You and to equip us to serve You more effectively. Give us Your vision for our writing ministry and encourage us to believe that You will use us to make a difference through the words we write and the lives we live.

Joyfully serving Christ -

Now glory be to God, who by his mighty power at work within us
is able to do far more than we would ever dare to ask or even dream of—
infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, or hopes.
